Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana has been recovered after an anonymous call led police to a processing operation in Barrie.

According to Barrie police, officers received a call about a man wielding a handgun at a home on William Paddison Drive on Sunday at around 5 a.m.

Police headed to the neighbourhood and saw a man through a garage window and then quickly disappear. Taking a closer look, officers say they discovered a marijuana processing operation inside the home.

A short time later, investigators say members of the Barrie police street crime unit executed a search warrant at the residence and seized 25 kilograms of marijuana, drug packaging materials, and processing equipment.

The total street value of the marijuana is estimated at $250,000.

A 60-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested and charged with production of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance over three kilograms. The man was also charged with breach of recognizance.

The female was released on a promise to appear before a Barrie court next month. The man was held for a bail hearing.
