Annual Pumpkin Palooza returns in smashing style

Share

Springwater residents found a creative way to get rid of their jack-o'-lanterns as an annual fall favourite made its return.

The Springwater-Vespra Lions Club held its third annual Pumpkin Palooza on Sunday, making for a fun day of smashing and catapulting leftover Halloween decor.

"The local kids really do know that when Halloween is over, it's not truly over," said Allan Mills, president of the Springwater-Vespra Lion's Club. "We've got a chance to smash these pumpkins, meet your neighbours and have some fun."

Mills said the pumpkins naturally decompose instead of throwing them in the trash. Proceeds from the event will also go toward local non-profits. Mills added that he expects to raise about $1000.
