Search for missing Barrie boy ends

Police in Barrie have ended their search for a young boy who was reported missing on Thursday.

Officers launched an active search for the nine-year-old child in the area of Blake Street after he went missing around 10 a.m. They confirmed he had been found safe shortly before 1 p.m.

The Barrie service noted an Amber Alert was not issued because the case did not meet the criteria.

An Amber Alert is an emergency alert message issued by the Ontario Provincial Police for cases of suspected child abductions where the child could be in imminent danger.
