Police have detailed more information about who was killed at a Barrie rooming house Sunday night, and the suspect who is now charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators say 55-year-old Milan Segota died at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Sunday after being found with multiple stab wounds to the chest at 22 Ross St.

Terrence Barrett is accused in the stabbing of Segota. The 29-year-old is charged with second-degree murder and assault with a weapon. He remains in police custody at RVH for an unrelated medical issue.

Officers were called to the scene on Sunday around 11 p.m. Inside they located Segota in a hallway. Barrett is also accused of stabbing a 32-year-old woman in the arm. She was treated and released from hospital.

Police located Barrett a short time later and arrested him. Investigators say the suspect and the victims were to known to each other and were residents in the building.

Barrett will appear in a Barrie courtroom on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
