Police charged a 55-year-old man from Christian Island with being drug impaired after a vehicle with two other occupants crashed in Midland Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Overhead Bridge Road after a Jeep that had been travelling east on Concession Road 12 crashed into some trees.

Police say two people were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

One of the passengers, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection to an ongoing investigation in another jurisdiction, according to OPP.

The driver faces several charges on top of the impaired driving offence, including careless driving causing bodily harm, obstructing an officer, failing to surrender an insurance card, and failing to comply with a release order.

Police say he was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant by a western Canada service regarding an ongoing investigation.

He has been held in police custody.
