2x suspended driver charged with stunt driving
Officers stopped a vehicle allegedly speeding more than 50 kilometres over the posted limit in Kawartha Lakes, netting the driver a lengthy licence suspension.
Provincial police say the vehicle was travelling 134 kilometres per hour along Highway 35, a posted 80 km/h road on Saturday night.

The driver was charged with stunt driving, and the vehicle was subsequently towed to the impound yard, where it will remain for 14 days at the owner's expense.
In this case, police say the motorist was also found to be driving with a twice suspended licence.
Stunt driving charges are laid when a motorist is caught speeding 40 km/h or more over the speed limit on roads with a posted speed limit of less than 80 km/h or those speeding 50 km/h or more over the limit on roads with a posted limit of 80 km/h or higher.
However, stunt driving also applies to motorists preventing others from safely passing, cutting another vehicle off, and intentionally following too closely to another vehicle.
A stunt driving charge carries an automatic and immediate 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day roadside vehicle impoundment.
A minimum $2,000 fine up to $10,000 and six demerit points are possible if convicted of stunt driving.
