The OPP is pleading with the public not to enter the former Muskoka Regional Centre after charging nearly a dozen people with trespassing.

Ten people have been charged since Friday for trespassing on the grounds, including a couple caught hopping the fence with their two teenage kids.

Police say people are trying to strip metal from the main building, while kids are looking for a ghostly encounter.

The location has been posted on some website, encouraging people to check it out. The OPP ask that people don’t go on the property because it could be a dangerous venture.

“It’s a concerning issue as the  buildings are not safe and access in the event of an emergency by emergency services would be tricky,” OPP Const. Samantha Bigley tells CTV News.

Trespassers can face fines and a criminal charge of mischief.

The Muskoka Regional Centre was most recently used as a training location by the OPP, but is now abandoned.

The property is now part of a deal for a large redevelopment in Gravenhurst.
