Barrie police are investigating after they say a youth was attacked in city’s south end.

Police say the youth was walking with friends in the area of Esther Drive and Raquel Street on Wednesday, at around 9 p.m., when the group was approached by a man.

The man, described as being in his late teens or early 20s, then allegedly assaulted one of the youths and fled the scene. The victim suffered minor head and facial injuries – he was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say it’s unclear what provoked the incident.
