Barrie police are asking for the public’s help after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly approached by individuals inside a minivan.

Police say the girl was walking up St. Vincent Street from the lake on Tuesday, around 4 p.m. when three to four men inside an older model blue minivan approached her.

According to investigators, two of the men spoke to the girl and asked her to join them in the van for some candy. When the girl refused, the vehicle fled the area northbound on Duckworth.

Police say the intent of the incident is unclear.

The suspects are described as being in their late teens to early 20s with dark skin.

Police have not received any other reports of incidents similar to this. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
