County Road 27, north of Schomberg, has reopened after a serious early morning collision on Monday.

South Simcoe Police were contacted after a driver saw a vehicle in a ditch and a woman on the side of the road, at around 1:30 a.m.

Investigators say the 42-year-old Loretto woman was seriously injured and was taken to a Toronto hospital. Police believe both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

County Road 27 was closed for several hours between Highway 9 and 2nd Line.

South Simcoe Police is expected to release more information on Monday afternoon.
