A serious multi-vehicle crash in Innisfil has claimed the life of a woman and injured six other people.

The three-vehicle crash happened just before noon on the 20th Sideroad between Line 5 and 7.

South Simcoe Police believes the driver of a Kia SUV missed a stop sign and was t-boned by a van. The van then hit a pickup truck. The SUV flipped onto its roof in a ditch.

An occupant of the Kia, believed to be a woman in her 40s from Toronto, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another woman who was in the SUV was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Five other people suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say there’s no evidence at this time that distracted driving contributed to the crash.

The 20th Sideroad was closed for several hours, reopening at around 5 p.m.
