A 60-year-old Mississauga woman has died, following a crash on Highway 400 in Vaughan early Sunday morning.

The two vehicle collision happened in the southbound lanes of the highway near Highway 407, at around 2 a.m. According to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, one vehicle struck another from behind.

Four people inside the car that was struck were taken to hospital, where the woman succumbed to her injuries. The three other occupants sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 25-year-old Brampton man, is charged with:

  • Impaired driving causing death
  • Three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
  • Three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Failing to provide a blood alcohol sample
  • Possession of a schedule two substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

The southbound lanes of Highway 400 have reopened after being closed for several hours.
