The woman who witnessed two men beat Andrew Mixemong outside a Midland deli broke down on the stand Monday as she described to the jury what she saw.

Andrew Mixemong was beaten to death outside Dino’s Deli on July 6, 2012. Mixemong was picking his wife up who worked at the deli, when he got into an altercation with two men.  Jessey Herlichka and Paul McClung are charged with second degree murder.

Kelly Mortley, who called 9-1-1, testified she was waiting behind the deli to pick up her son when she saw two men being disruptive.

Mortley told the jury she heard Mixemong say “let’s have no trouble here,” and then saw Herlichka punching and kicking Mixemong.

Mortley testified that Mixemong’s wife stepped in and tried to stop beating, and Herlichka took a swing at her.

Mortely said during the beaten, Herlichka even stepped on Mixemongs face and that McClung was cheering him on.

Mortley told the jury she pleaded with the men to stop, but McClung looked at her and said “you’re next”.

The trial continues tomorrow.
