The WayHome Music and Arts Festival brings people from across the country to Oro-Medonte for three days of music. So before hitting the road, here’s what you need to know.

Getting there

While musical acts won’t take the stage until Friday, campers will be able to arrive Thursday to get settled in. Gates will open Thursday at 3 p.m. and will stay open until midnight. Gates will reopen on Friday at 8 a.m.

If you’re making the trek to the Burl’s Creek Event Ground, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Highway 11 is your best bet for getting there, but cottage county traffic on Friday will make for a bumper-to-bumper drive.

As for getting to Burl’s Creek, organizers recommend getting off at Line 7 South or Line 5 South.

Alcohol and camping

A recent decision by the Ontario Municipal Board means the event ground has 600 acres of land available to them for camping and parking this year.

It’s worth noting that campsites are assigned on a first come first serve basis, so getting their early would probably be best.

Outside alcohol is allowed on the event grounds, but is limited to campsites. However, there is a limit to how much you can bring.

Organizers say attendees can bring “two bulk alcohol items per person in aluminum or plastic containers.”

What consists of a bulk amount? That can be one case of 24 cans of beer, one 26 oz. container of liquor or one four litre box of wine.

Barbeques fueled by one pound containers of propane are also allowed, but are limited to one per campsite.

Medics will be available on site, and for the first time, naloxone kits will be allowed in. Naloxone is an antidote used when someone overdoses on an opioid.

Headliners and tickets

Headliners this year include some of the best musicians in rock, pop, and hip hop. Imagine Dragons, Frank Ocean, Flume and Cage the Elephants are just some of the performers that will hit the stage this weekend.

As for tickets, weekend passes are still available at a cost of $249.99. One day passes are also available at $109.99.
