Police are increasing their presence on two major roads in Wasaga Beach after a steep increase in car crashes.

The area has seen a 100% increase in crashes from July to August.

There have been 30 collisions in August, which is the second highest number of collisions in a month since the snow storms of January 2014.

“Analysis shows us two thirds of these accidents happened on two major roads,” says Constable Mark Kinney of the Huronia West OPP. “Mostly Mosley Street and River Road West.”

Two thirds of the accidents happened on those two roads.

Each week police will review their parole of the Wasaga Beach streets and decide what else can be done to improve safety and prevent future collisions.
