If you plan to spend time outside this weekend you will want to stay hydrated and dress for warm weather.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for most of the region due to a warm and humid air-mass that has settled over southern Ontario. Maximum temperatures will range from 29 to 32 degrees today.

The statement has been issued for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood – Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater – Orr Lake
  • Orillia – Lagoon City – Washago
  • Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus
  • Orangeville - Grand Valley - Southern Dufferin County
  • Shelburne - Mansfield - Northern Dufferin County
  • Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
  • Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region
  • Vaughan – Richmond Hill - Markham

A heat warning is not expected to reach most areas, but it is the first very warm and humid weather of the season.

Environment Canada is warning these conditions pose a health risk if you are not used to the heat, and recommends drinking plenty of cool liquids and spending a few hours in a cold place every day.
