Two people have died in separate drowning incidents in the region.

The first apparent drowning happened on Saturday at Sibbald Point Provincial Park in Georgina. OPP say a 64-year-old man was found floating face down in waist deep water, about 30 feet from shore.

The man was pulled from the water and an off-duty nurse and doctor performed CPR, but was unable to revive him. An autopsy has been called to determine an exact cause of death.

On Sunday, OPP responded to Grass Lake, near Kearneyt after a canoe capsized with two men aboard at around 1 p.m. One of the men was able to swim to shore; the other, a 27-year-old Toronto man, was later found dead.

Police say neither of the men were wearing lifejackets when the boat capsized. An autopsy will now be conducted.
