Four men have been charged after  police raided two marijuana dispensaries in Barrie Tuesday morning.

Members of the Barrie police street crime unit executed warrants at Sunrise Medicinal and Med West on Dunlop Street during the early morning hours.

Investigators say neither location was licensed to produce or distribute marijuana by Health Canada.

Both dispensaries were targeted after police say they received complaints from members of the community.

Police seized a large quantity of cash, cannabis marijuana, cannabis resin, hashish and edible products containing THC - the psychoactive ingredient contained in marijuana.

“These types of ‘store front’ operations pose a potential health risk, as the production of controlled substances are not regulated by Health Canada and/or originate from unknown sources,” a Barrie police release stated.

Four men were arrested and face drug related charges.

A Wasaga Beach man, 63, from Sunrise Medicinal dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

A Coldwater man, 30 from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

A Barrie man, 30, from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

A Barrie man, 29, from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

All four men are expected to appear in court on September 28.

Police say the investigation continues and further arrests and charges are expected.
