A tractor-trailer crashed into three buildings in Tottenham Thursday morning.

Police say the area of Queen and Main Streets is closed following the collision, which happened around 11 a.m.

The transport truck was travelling north when it veered across the southbound lanes and onto the sidewalk. It crashed into a real estate office, post office, several lamp posts, signs and mail boxes before coming to rest part way through the wall of a convenience store. The building has apartments on the second floor.

"I just saw a big white truck in my window, so I grabbed the dog and hit the floor," said witness Jane Kitching.

Nottawasaga OPP told CTV News no one in the offices was hurt, but the transport driver suffered minor injuries.

There is significant structural damage and police have evacuated the apartments for safety reasons.

Many people who were on Tottenham's main street at the time of the crash say it was a miracle no one was hurt or killed.

"Normally there is people walking and parked here, just by chance there wasn't anyone there," said witness Lawrie Maggio.

What caused the transport to go off the road and crash into the buildings is still under investigation.

The Ministry of Transportation is also conducting an investigation to see if there was any kind of mechanical failure.

Police reopened the road shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
