Environment Canada has ended a tornado warning for our region, but the storm caused quite a bit of damage.

The weather office reported that it was tracking system moving northeast from Midland late Friday afternoon. Officials later said it was tracking a potential tornado moving east or northeast through the Huntsville area.

There have been no official reports or accounts of a tornado touching down. A video posted online shows what looks to be a possible waterspout on Fairy Lake near Huntsville.

Environment Canada said torrential rain and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h were expected. The storm knocked out power to thousands of customers. You can find the latest on outages here.

There are reports of damage throughout the Huntsville area. Photos on social media show several trees that look like they were broken in half.

Other people are reporting damage to homes and other buildings.

Huntsville/ Lake of Bays Fire Chief confirms to CTV News that reports of a plane crash in Lake Rebecca are false. He says there is no evidence that a plane went down.

Environment Canada says they are now investigating whether a tornado or a downburst hit the Huntsville are. They are in contact with witnesses and local officials.
