Environment Canada has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down east of Orillia Friday night.

The tornado touched down in the small community of Udney.

Environment Canada says wind speeds reached 135-175 kilometres per hour.

There are a number of trees down, roofs ripped off barns, and significant damage to the local baseball diamond.

Today the community is still assessing all of the damage and are just beginning the clean-up.

This serious storm also produced several downbursts throughout the region.

Environment Canada has confirmed a downburst hit in Orillia and another one struck the Six Mile Lake area north of Port Severn.
