Thousands of people are making the trip to Georgian Bay to enjoy the nice weather and fall colours – and that’s good news for businesses.

This is a critical weekend for many communities – the last chance to get tourist in before the snow flies and winter activities gear up.

For Fernwood Farms in Stayner, every vehicle that passes along Highway 26 is a potential customer.

“Between tonight and all day tomorrow it’s going to be really busy with folks coming up enjoying time with their family,” said Kevin Ward at Fernwood farms.

From Creemore to Clarksburg and Ravenna to Glenn Huron, communities are rolling out the welcome mats for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Glenn Huron is normally quiet, but this long weekend will be much different.

“It will be a zoo here tomorrow, we will have hundreds of people,” said Bob Giffen at the Giffen Country Market.

Staff at the Glenn Huron Village Market have been preparing for this weekend for a month now baking pies and tarts.

“There are a lot of things going on trying to stock shelves for Saturday- which is the busiest day,” said Joann Arsenault.

On top of the fall colours, there are many special events planned including studio tours and The Horse, Hound and Harvest Parade in Creemore.
