Every September Canadians gather at community parks to run in honour of Terry Fox.

"Ever since Terry started his run across Canada on April 4th, 1980 we've all been inspired by Terry Fox and sadly when his run had to come to an end on September 1st, 1980 we decided that ‘Hey, we better do something for Terry and make sure this guy gets his 24 million dollars’," says Barrie Terry Fox Run chair Patrick Scott.

The Terry Fox Foundation has raised $650 million for cancer research worldwide.

Terry’s father Rolly Fox attended Toronto’s run for the first time this year:

"Before he passed away he said the run had to continue, and it definitely has."

900 people ran to raise money for cancer research Sunday in Barrie.
