Emergency crews have given the all clear at the office of MP Patrick Brown in Barrie after investigators say a suspicious package containing an unknown white powder was delivered.

The Barrie Fire Department has assessed the scene and say there doesn’t appear to a be toxic or explosive at Brown’s office, located at 299 Lakeshore Dr. Police were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers say a suspicious envelope containing an unknown white powder was mailed in.

As a precaution police evacuated the building, but occupants have since been allowed re-entry. The Barrie police criminal investigation branch is now handling the investigation.

Police are looking to speak with the person who mailed in the letter.
