It’s been a successful year for ski resorts in the region, but how much time is left for skiers?

At Blue Mountain, many of the hills are being described as having great mid-winter conditions. With more than 100 centimeters of snow, resort officials say they want to stay open every day for as long as possible.

“Last year our last day on the snow was April 27 and it was a record setting date of 142 days on snow,” says Tara Lovell of Blue Mountains. “This year, like every year, the goal is to beat the record by having a long season and a late season finish.”

The ski season is already over at Horseshoe Resort and Snow Valley will open Friday for the long weekend then call it a season.

“We had a good year. Sure it was cold… but overall we had great, fantastic snow conditions throughout all of January and all of February, right into the beginning of March,” says Johnathan Palmer of Snow Valley.

As for the weather, Environment Canada says don't expect any drastic spikes in temperatures any time soon. Cool days and even cooler nights will continue to be the norm, which should be good for extending the ski season.
