Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson announced his new private member’s resolution which calls on the province to secure planning grants for two local hospitals.

Wilson made the announcement Friday at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston. He will be asking the Ontario government  for $12 million each for the hospital in Alliston and Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

“This hospital hasn't had any major renovation or anything since it was built in 1962,” Wilson said about the Alliston hospital. “With all three parties in the legislature we're going to promote the planning grants for Collingwood and Alliston hospitals that day”

Both hospitals are in the midst of expansion plans to serve growing communities. Officials admit the need is urgent.

“We're at capacity almost every day but some days we're seeing, but someday we're seeing over 150 folks through our emergency department which puts us almost at a tier two hospital with our emergency department," said Jody Levac, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

Wilson will present his private member’s resolution in the legislature on May 18th.
