Smoke filled the sky Friday afternoon when a fire broke out at an asphalt plant in Severn Township.

The fire broke out around noon at Beamish Asphalt north of Orillia.

One of the silos used for making cold patch caught fire and fire crews say flames as high as 50 feet were shooting of the silo by the time the fire department arrived.

The fire was put out quickly, but 10,000 gallons of water and a foaming agent were used to douse the flames.

The cause is still under investigation.
