Two Salvation Army donation kettles were stolen by a man in a replica Salvation Army uniform on Saturday.

Police say a man in his late 40’s wearing a replica uniform including a peak cap was seen removing the kettle and replacing it with an empty one first at the Sobeys, and then at the LCBO on Young Street in Alliston.

The thefts were discovered when legitimate volunteers came to pick up the donations.

Police are looking at video surveillance to identify the thief, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

They weren’t able to estimate how much money was stolen.
