Remains found on Christian Island identified as Wasaga Beach woman missing since 2009

After years of uncertainty a high profile missing person’s case in Wasaga Beach has been solved.

OPP say human remains found on Christian Island on May 15^th, 2014 were those of Penny Warne who went missing in 2009.

Warne was last seen in February of 2009 and was reported missing when she didn’t turn up for work at the local Walmart.

At the time, police searched the wood and water repeatedly for the 57-year-old woman and her adult children put up posters all over town hoping someone had seen something.

Warne had lived in Wasaga Beach for twenty years and when she went missing her car was in the driveway, her purse and cellphone were found inside her home and the dog was outside.

An autopsy has been done and investigators say there was no foul play involved in her death.
