Two new signs have been put up at the entrance at the Huronia Regional Centre, and they point to a new way the cemetery.

Those buried there will be honoured by the province. As part of the Ontario government's $35-million settlement with former residents of the Huronia Regional Centre, the cemetery will be properly maintained after decades of neglect.

In addition to these new signs, the province will also identify the hundreds of people buried in unmarked graves. The province reached a settlement with former HRC residents in the fall amid a lawsuit against the government over years of abuse and neglect people suffered while living at the provincial facility.
