The price of gas could jump again before the weekend is over.

People looking to fill up on Friday arrived at the pump to find prices that had jumped about four cents overnight. Prices could be found between $0.94 and $1.05 a litre.

However the hike isn’t over just yet. Dan McTeague, an analyst for GasBuddy.com, is forecasting another two cent rise on Saturday.

"The trend at least for the short term and perhaps leading into Christmas is going to see prices much more in the area of maybe eight to 10 cents a litre from where it is now.”

The rise comes after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries reached an agreement to cut production. This hasn’t happened eight years.

McTeague also believes the price could jump even further because of Ontario’s plans to introduce cap-and-trade.

That could tack another three to four cents onto the cost of gas.
