Local tourism operators in our region are preparing for those who are sticking around for Christmas.

Delivery trucks lined up outside the Village at Blue Mountain on Friday, loaded with food and drinks as preparations for the holidays switched into high gear.

The guests started to arrive by noon on Friday. Caroline Guo and her friends travelled by bus from Mississauga to spend the next couple of days in Blue Mountain.

“Skiing, build a snowman, cook, and just go around and take photos.”

Sheldon Rosen works at The Lodges at Blue Mountain and expects the crowds to build here over the next couple of days.

“As every day goes on we get busier and busier, we are going to be really busy on the 23rd. Pretty much from the 23rd to the second we are sold out.”

The last Friday before Christmas is the beginning of peak-season now that schools are out for the holidays.

There is some good news for anybody traveling by car over the holidays – gas prices on Friday were still under $1 a litre in most places in our region.
