A 24-year-old Aurora man is facing charges in connection to an armed robbery in Bradford nearly six years ago.

The armed robbery happened back on November 7, 2011 at the Country Style Donuts on Holland Street West.

According to South Simcoe Police, a lone male suspect wearing a balaclava entered the business just after midnight and pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded cash. He then fled the store.

During the investigation, South Simcoe Police Service forensic officers obtained both DNA and fingerprint evidence.

This year, the DNA sample was related to an offender on the National DNA database. Forensic officers checked the fingerprints from the crime scene against the offender's fingerprints and made a match.

The suspect was arrested without incident in Aurora on Wednesday.

He has been charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent.

Investigators believe a second suspect was also involved and are still seeking the firearm involved in the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Kai Johnson at 905-775-3311 extension 1040 or Crime Stoppers.
