Barrie police say three suspects remain at large in connection to Friday’s shooting at an Edgehill Drive apartment building.

Three bullet holes could be seen in an apartment door on the 10th floor of the 90 Edgehill Dr. building on Saturday. For neighbours it tells a terrifying story of what happened the night before.

"We just heard three big bangs and I was just kind of scared because I didn't know what was going on around me or what was going to happen,” says Karolina, who lives down the hall from where the shooting happened.

Barrie police believe two suspects knocked on the door of the apartment, just after 9 p.m. When the victim went to answer, investigators say three shots were fired through the door.

Two of those shots struck a man in the arm and leg.

“All I heard was three gun shots and when I opened my door there was a drop of blood on the floor,” says April McIlmoyle. “I knew what it was as soon as I heard it."

Police say the shooters then fled the scene in a getaway car they believe was driven by a third suspect.

At the same time, two men inside the apartment were also spotted leaving in a car, which police found in the area of Tiffin Street and Innisfil Street.

“The descriptions we got for the alleged suspects turned out to be the victims,” says Det. Const. Dave Edgar.

The passenger was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. His injuries are considered to be non-life threatening.

The driver fled the scene, but was caught quickly and taken into custody. He has since been charged with flight from police and breach of probation.

"There is either one or two suspects still outstanding,” says Edgar. “At this point we believe we're looking for two suspects, both male."

Guns drawn, police searched the apartment building for several hours after the shooting.

On Saturday, they were back on scene looking for evidence around the building, including the .40 calibre hand gun police believe was used in the shooting.

"We are looking at the video that is available at the time at 90 Edgehill, it's very clear video."

Police say this was not a random act of violence, and believe the suspects and victims knew each other.

Residents are being assured, there's no concern for public safety.

In the meantime, police are asking anyone with information to contact them or anonymously Crime Stoppers.
