Provincial police have arrested a suspect in connection to break-ins at nursing homes and a hospital in the region.

Police executed a search warrant at a Gravenhurst home on Thursday and arrested a 41-year-old man.

According to police, the suspect is responsible for break and enters at Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Samaritan Nursing Home in Alliston and the Orillia Retirement Home.

In the Stevenson case, police say the suspect broke into an auxiliary and mechanical room on Feb. 23. There was no indication that anything was stolen.

On Feb. 24, investigators say the suspect gained entry to the nursing home through a reception window. He then allegedly broke into two offices and made off with some cash.

In the Orillia case, police say he stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The accused has been charged with three counts of break and entre and one count of failure to comply with recognizance.

The suspect remains in police custody and will appear in bail court Friday.
