A man who was seriously injured in a crash in Georgina on the weekend has died in hospital.

York Regional Police confirmed an 80-year-old man, who was a passenger in a Honda Civic that was involved in a crash on Sunday, succumbed to his injuries in a Toronto hospital on Wednesday.

The Civic collided with a Chevrolet Equinox at the intersection of Varney Road and Metro Road North, at around 5:30 p.m. The 80-year-old passenger was airlifted from the scene with critical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and police are hoping to speak with witnesses.
