An OPP veteran and the father of a man who pleaded guilty to sex crimes against children has been arrested for allegedly obstructing justice.

Const. Mark Lund – an officer with Southern Georgian Bay OPP – was arrested on Thursday, following an investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau.

The 50-year-old is a 27-year veteran of the OPP.

Investigators didn’t provide details of the incident, but say it happened while he was off-duty.

“I can’t get into the specifics of it, however members of our professional standards branch was involved,” says OPP Sgt. Peter Leon.  “They carried out a thorough and detailed investigation which accumulated today with the arrest of provincial Const. Lund.”

Lund is the father of Shayne Lund. Shayne was arrested in 2013 along with two other women. He has pleaded guilty to 35 charges, including sexual assault, making and possessing child pornography, and bestiality.

Shayne Lund is still awaiting sentencing.

Lund has been released on a promise to appear in court next month in Midland.
