A 61-year-old Vancouver woman was rescued by police after she got lost hiking in Georgian Bluffs.

OPP got a call around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday night from the woman saying she was disorientated and wasn’t able to find her way off a trail before it got dark.

Police used the GPS of her cell phone and then officers got on ATVS and located her on the Grey Sauble Conservation Trail – approximately 1.5 kilometres northwest of Highway 6 and Highway 10.

She was found in good health and returned to the bed and breakfast where she was staying.

Police are encouraging hikers to always hike in the company of another person, wear the proper clothing/gear, carry a charged cell phone, and let someone know of your destination and estimated time of return.
