The public school in Honey Harbour could stay open for a little while longer.

Trillium Lakelands School Board trustees will vote Tuesday on a recommendation to keep Honey Harbour Public School open for at least five more years.

If approved, trustees could turn to another accommodation review to address any issues.

The recommendation comes after the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board voted last month to close Our Lady of Mercy School at the end of this school year.

The township had argued losing both schools would be a major blow to the community.

The Ministry of Education will visit Honey Harbour on May 23.
