Ontario Fire Marshal investigators are sifting through the charred remains of a mobile home that was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to the fire at Muskoka Mobile Home Park at around 10 a.m.

A woman managed to escape, but one person died in the fire off of Highway 11 south of Gravenhurst.

The victim’s remains were found in a bedroom after the fire was put out.

Three firefighters were also injured while fighting the fire.

One firefighter slipped on ice and two suffered burns.

“While inside the building two firefighters experienced what`s considered a flash over,” explained Bracebridge OPP Constable James Edwards. “The contents of the room become very, very hot.”

One of the two firefighters burned was sent to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

All three firefighters are expected to recover.

“We never know what to expect when responding to an emergency,” said Gravenhurst Fire Chief Larry Brassard, “but the firefighters responded admirably to this very hostile environment. Their actions were nothing short of heroic.”

Investigators spent most of the day Wednesday searching for evidence in the bedroom after they determined that was where the fire started.

“Although we don't know exactly where the fire started we know it's in the bedroom,” said Mike Ross with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office. “In terms of how the fire started, we're still looking at that. Everything is still being considered.”
