One person has been arrested after a stabbing in Wasaga Beach.

Police tape surrounded the Juniors Pizza plaza on Main Street on Friday night. The OPP confirm that one person was stabbed before 9 p.m., suffering non-life threatening injuries.

One person has been arrested, adding that the suspect and the victim are known to each other.

“We're still in an active investigation, gathering as much evidence as we can,” says OPP Const. Mark Kinney. “So that we can get a complete picture as to what transpired between the two locations.”

Police confirmed earlier in the evening they were called to the area of 12th Street and Mosley Street. Witnesses say an altercation happened at a children's party.

It’s unclear exactly where the stabbing happened, but police say both sites are related.

This is just the latest stabbing to happen in the town. Last year, two men were stabbed to death in separate incident over the Victoria Day long weekend.

“Wasaga Beach is an extremely safe town. Always has been and I believe always will be,” says Mayor Brian Smith. “These incidents happen all over and they happen a lot more than they'll ever happen in Wasaga Beach.”

The investigation is ongoing and police are hoping to speak with any witnesses.
