A woman is staying with family tonight and the Red Cross is helping out after a fire in Clearview Township this morning.

The fire started in the basement of a home in Glen Huron. 

The woman renting the home called 911 and then ran to a nearby store. 

Twenty firefighters from Clearview and Springwater responded and were there within 10 minutes. 

There was extensive fire damage in the basement and smoke damage in the home. 

Late today firefighters said the fire started in a long extension cord plugged into a heater. 

Damage is estimated at $125,000.
