A new live music festival inspired by the U.S. “Bonnaroo Music Festival”, will be coming to the Burls Creek Family Event Park in Oro-Medonte this summer.

The show will be produced by Republic Live, who are also the producers of Canada’s largest country music festival Boots and Hearts.

Producers say the  July 24th to 26th festival will draw on the success of the Bonnaroo event south of the border.

“We're definitely going to see some great artists from multiple genres,” said Republic Live’s Director of Public Relations Laura Kennedy. “We started looking around and wondering why we don’t have something like Bonnaroo right here in Canada.”

The festival will include 4 stages, art installations, international and local cuisine, and an on-site farmers market.

Barrie rockers The Alpaca’s are hoping to get their name on the lineup.

“It’s potentially a good springboard for a local band to be put in front of so many potential new fans and promoters,” said band member Nick Harper.

The organizers say that this festival has the potential to make $13.6 million in economic impact for Ontario in its first year.

The full lineup of the festival is set to be released in about six weeks.
