New charges have been filed in what police have called a vicious attack in Shelburne.

On Sunday night, a 14 year old girl was badly beaten in a wooded area of the town.

Shelburne Police originally charged a 19-year-old man with aggravated assault in the case.

But on Thursday afternoon, the Shelburne Police and the OPP jointly announced three additional charges against the man.

He is now also charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and choking.

The suspect will appear in an Orangeville court on August 7th, 2014.

Shelburne Police say the OPP is now heading up the investigation, and that considerable resources have been brought in from the provincial force to work with Shelburne officers.

Shelburne Police Chief Kent Moore is asking the public to continue to search for black coloured clothing that may have been discarded in the northwest part of Shelburne. If anyone has information they are asked to call 519-925-2962.
