An elderly motorist hit the Swiss Chalet restaurant on Bayfield Street in Barrie during the lunch hour today.
Police say they arrived to find a car through the window. The restaurant brick wall was damaged, and yellow police tape was strung across the window above where the car hit. Police say the damage was extensive.
Investigators say the driver accidently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. No charges were laid, but police contacted the Ministry of Transportation to ask for a driving evaluation.
There were no injuries.
