The prolonged heat has prompted two more communities in the region to increase their fire danger ratings.

Both Springwater and Clearview Townships raised their fire danger rating to high on Thursday and residents are being asked to use extreme caution.

The fire dangers come as many municipalities are keeping a close eye on dry conditions and the increase risk of fires.

Collingwood made the biggest jump on the fire danger rating scale going from low to extremely high on Wednesday. However, a fire ban has not been issued by the town.

Bracebridge, Essa, Muskoka Region, Parry Sound and Severn all have their fire danger ratings set at moderate.

It is believed possible rain showers over the weekend will reduce the danger. The forecast is calling for a chance of showers on and off Friday through Monday.
