Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating after a fire at Global Electric Electronic Processing in Barrie over the weekend.

Investigators say the Saturday fire was a result of a lithium ion battery accidently being processed through a grinding machine.

The fire was contained an equipment room by a sprinkler system until firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office conducted an investigation, but has since handed things over to the MoL.

This is the fourth time in the last 12 months that Barrie fire crews have been called to Geep.
