Winter officially starts on Sunday at 6:03 p.m., but temperatures are expected to rise over the course of the week.

A low pressure system is expected to bring rain and strong winds to Ontario by Tuesday at the latest.

This time last year, our region saw a serious ice storm knock out power to tens of thousands of people for days.

Freezing rain, however, isn’t expected this year because the temperature will be above the freezing mark.

Almost all of the 80 cms of snow that has fallen so far in Barrie has melted.

“This year it’s been mild,” said Wasaga resident Roger Micks. “I looked at the fourteen day forecast and there won't be much snow around.”

Some colder weather is expected on Christmas day, and there is some snow in the forecast so there is still a chance of a white Christmas is some areas of our region.
