The Trillium Lakelands District School Board has formally asked to go to arbitration after talks with the union representing high school teachers broke off.

The board and local Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation still have to negotiate a local settlement. They met this week with a mediator but talks were called off after only half a day.

The union has said it does not want to go to arbitration yet. Teachers withdrew limited administrative duties on Nov. 5.

OSSTF says teachers will not take part in EQAO testing.
