More than 15,000 people came to Bala over three days to see what the Bala Cranberry Festival had to offer.

"It's been a great festival,” said Cranberry Festival director Chantelle Black. “The weather's really cooperated, we've had more people come through this year than past years."

The festival was created 30 years ago to extend the tourist season, and Kim Ward, who owns the Bala Bay Inn, is just one of many happy business owners.

“It gives us one more weekend where we can invite tourists to enjoy a small Ontario town," she said. “Our small businesses really rely on the boost. It's busier than some of the summer weekends for sure."

More than $700,000 is brought to Bala through the festival every year.

"The cranberry festival provides me with new customers, loyal customers, fattens my bank account up, so I'm able to close down and take a little bit of a break," said Overboard owner Sheila Overbeek.

The Cranberry Festival itself has donated more than $700,000 from admission fees to the local community, including church groups, after school programs, and community events, over the last 30 years.
